Your Local Pantry in Hodge Hill is to be launched in April 2021 with plans to pre-register members in March.
For a small weekly subscription of £4, members of the Hodge Hill Pantry will be able to purchase a weekly food shop including fresh fruit and vegetables and family favourites to stock up the cupboard and fridge.
People from Open Door Community Foundation and Hodge Hill Church have come together to host and run this pantry. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they both realised the enormity of food poverty in the community and the importance of people having access to good quality and affordable food. But also, just as importantly they realised the importance of access to community, friendship, and support.
The address is:
Hodge Hill Church (locally known as the Blue Cross Church),
242 Coleshill Road
Due to high demand and our aim of responding to our local community, we are currently only accepting members who live in Bromford and Hodge Hill Ward or people who are referred by agencies working in the Ward. This pantry will have a Covid-safe opening plan, with bookable time slots, and reduced capacity due to needing to be physically distanced. The group behind this pantry in due course to offer a café alongside the pantry, and grow our member numbers with new days and times.
The team are always looking for new people to join the team. This could be helping to run the shop, help with food deliveries and collections, food storage, welcoming people, help in the café, or help in the garden growing food.
